When a collaborator changes position, department, or responsibilities, you must modify their user account to readjust their access rights. This ensures that they maintain a vision limited only to the data that concerns them.
User modification is managed independently by the administrators of your account.
If you are not an administrator yourself, we invite you to contact the person in charge of this management within your organization.
Find in this section all topics related to user management on the SatisFactory platform.
Requirements
Although modifying the rights and access of a user is fast, controlling and restricting their access to data requires prior configuration of:
- A profile (learn more)
- A role (learn more)
- An analysis perimeter (learn more)
- And if needed, a comparison perimeter (learn more)
Access user management
From the platform's administration center, you can create, modify, search, export and delete users on your account.
⚠️ The administration center is only accessible to users whose profile holds administrator privileges ("Manage").
To do this, from the platform's left sidebar, access the administration center by clicking on the "Administration" tab.
Then, in the administration center's left sidebar, expand the "Users and roles" section, then click on the "Users" sub-section.
Modify user rights
You have 3 methods to modify user rights on the SatisFactory platform:
- Manual update: directly from the administration interface, ideal for adjusting a user occasionally
- Manual mass import: from a preformatted CSV file, to be used when you wish to modify several users simultaneously
- Automatic mass import: by depositing a preformatted CSV file on an SFTP server, recommended for automating the recurring modification of several users
Each method thus meets a specific need depending on the volume of users to be modified.
💭 To set up automatic user import via SFTP, please contact your SatisFactory Customer Success Manager directly. This is indeed a specific project.
⚠️ For security reasons, the modification of users is the responsibility of your platform administrators. SatisFactory support is therefore not authorized to perform this operation.
Modify a user manually via the interface
From the "Users" section of the administration center, hover over an existing user, click on the icon representing a vertical ellipsis (⋮) and then click on "Edit".
A new panel opens on the right, allowing you to modify the information linked to the user. The fields that can be modified are as follows:
- The user’s first and last name
- The user’s email
- The user profile (learn more)
- The platform display language for the user
- The user’s analysis perimeter (learn more)
- The user’s comparison perimeter (learn more)
- The user’s subscriptions to platform notifications (learn more)
⚠️ Each user is identified in the system by their email address, which constitutes their unique identifier. Consequently, it cannot be modified.
You can make all desired modifications to the user. Make sure to click on the "Save" button to apply all modifications.
💭 Selecting the profile and perimeter automatically assigns the associated permissions to the user and activates their notifications. However, the user can unsubscribe from them.
Modify a user manually by CSV file import
First, retrieve the user import CSV template. It is available as an attachment to this article. You can also download it directly from the platform via the "Export" button, or create it yourself by respecting the required format (CSV, UTF-8 encoding, semicolon separator).
