Understand roles
Overview of roles
Roles correspond to predefined configuration standards that personalize the interface when logging into the platform for a given user profile.
From a functional perspective, unlike user profiles which manage global access permissions to platform features, roles govern the display of functional modules accessible from the home page, as well as their respective reference period.
In the SatisFactory platform, a role therefore makes it possible to align the navigation experience and the reading of results with the real business stakes of each population (executive management, marketing, operations, field teams, etc.).
Each role can be attached to a user profile.
There are 6 predefined roles:
- Site management
- Region management
- Marketing management & Analyst
- Operations management
- Program administration
- Not defined
Detailed overview of roles
While providing a structured framework, the platform also offers the flexibility of customized configuration.
You can customize up to 6 distinct roles to assign them to the appropriate user profiles.
You therefore have the possibility, independently or with SatisFactory support, to manage roles adapted to your organization in order to ensure a relevant and contextualized reading of data accessible from the homepage.
The different modules associated with roles
You can activate, deactivate, and customize the modules accessible from the home page for each role.

Use roles
By defining configuration standards adapted to each business function, roles are essential drivers to:
Simplify the user experience and encourage adoption
- Streamline the homepage by hiding non-relevant modules to reduce cognitive load
- Accelerate access to information through predefined time periods (weekly view for field teams, monthly view for management, etc.)
- Reduce the learning curve for new users by providing a ready-to-use environment that requires no manual configuration on their part
Align result analysis with strategic and operational priorities
- Align management practices by providing a standardized interface shared by all users at the same hierarchical level (all managers at the same level analyze their performance on the same basis)
- Focus team attention on indicators and modules that strictly match their scope of action and decision-making
- Translate the organization strategy into the tool by highlighting priority modules for each profile through controlled performance management
Guide artificial intelligence recommendations
- Personalize decision-support features (insights, flash report, etc.) by ensuring that AI adapts messaging to the appropriate context to guarantee relevant priorities and suggested action plans
- Dynamically adapt comparison benchmarks according to the role objectives (example: internal benchmark prioritized for site management vs external benchmark for marketing management)
Simplify solution deployment and maintenance
- Ensure overall platform consistency without having to manage display preferences individually for each user
- Facilitate process evolution: modifying a role configuration instantly applies to the entire associated profile
- Secure configuration by avoiding individual setup errors that could negatively impact data interpretation
Configure roles
Access role management
From the platform's administration center, you can manage roles in your account.
⚠️ The administration center is only accessible to users whose profile holds administrator privileges ("Manage").
To do this, from the platform's left sidebar, access the administration center by clicking on the "Administration" tab.
Then, in the administration center's left sidebar, expand the "Users and roles" section, then click on the "Roles" sub-section.

Best practices
Prioritize functional simplicity by default
Instead of activating all modules for all users, configure roles to display only the features strictly necessary for the daily work of the targeted team. Keep unnecessary or overly complex modules disabled to streamline navigation and significantly accelerate user adoption.
Anticipate the impact of roles on AI recommendations
Assigning a role is not only about display, it also guides the analysis engine. Ensure the selected role matches the expected management strategy for that user profile. Incorrect assignment would distort insights and suggested priorities by relying on benchmarks that are inconsistent with user objectives.
