Define data display restrictions on the platform for your users according to their specific operational needs. Easily create and manage your user/analysis perimeters to restrict the visibility scope of each team.
User perimeters (also called "analysis perimeters") determine the definition of the visible metadata that a user can access. To learn more, read the related article: What is a user perimeter?
Access analysis perimeter management
From the platform's administration center, you can create, modify, and delete the user perimeters of your account.
⚠️ The administration center is only accessible to users whose profile holds administrator privileges ("Manage").
To do this, from the platform's left sidebar, access the administration center by clicking on the "Administration" tab.
Then, in the administration center's left sidebar, expand the "Users and roles" section, then click on the "Perimeters" sub-section.
Create an analysis perimeter
To create a new user perimeter on your account, start by clicking the "Add perimeter" button.
A new configuration panel opens on the right, allowing you to enter the information required to create a perimeter.
- User perimeter label
Start by assigning a name to your user perimeter.
This name will appear in the user creation and editing panel.
The maximum allowed length is 50 characters.
In a multilingual context, if you have configured several languages in the program settings (learn more), we recommend naming your perimeter so that it is understandable for everyone.
- Operator
If you plan to define several rules within the perimeter using different metadata, select the appropriate "AND" or "OR" operator.
The "AND" operator (precise hierarchy) narrows the perimeter. The user sees only data that meets all conditions simultaneously.
Example: "region" = "North" AND "store_type" = "Supermarket","Hypermarket"; the user sees only supermarkets and hypermarkets located in the North, North drive stores are hidden, and Southern supermarkets and hypermarkets are hidden.
The "OR" operator (cumulative structure) expands the perimeter. The user sees the combined data matching one or the other criteria.
Example: "region" = "North" OR "store_type" = "Supermarket","Hypermarket"; the user sees all stores in the North (regardless of type) and also all supermarkets and hypermarkets across the country (regardless of region).
- Perimeter rule
Finally, select the metadata and allowed values to define the analysis scope of the user perimeter.
Once the user perimeter configuration is complete, click the "Save" button to create it.
💭 By default, for the same metadata, entered values are cumulative.
Edit an analysis perimeter
To edit an existing user perimeter, simply locate the perimeter on the "Perimeters" page, click the vertical ellipsis icon (⋮), then click "Edit".
You can then make any desired changes to your perimeter.
Make sure to click the "Save" button to apply all changes to the user perimeter.
💭 You can freely edit the label, operator, and application rules for each user perimeter.
Delete an analysis perimeter
To delete an existing user perimeter, simply locate the perimeter on the "Perimeters" page, click the vertical ellipsis icon (⋮), then click "Delete".
The user perimeter will be permanently removed from the platform.
⚠️ To preserve platform integrity, a user perimeter that is still assigned to at least one existing user cannot be deleted. An error message will automatically appear in the top right corner of the page if this is the case. Make sure to identify the user still assigned to the perimeter you want to delete and assign another perimeter to that user first.
